Everything Is Bigger In Texas
Things are bigger in the state of Texas and there's no doubt. There are plenty of fun facts that may change any person's perspective of the Lone Star State.
Big Tex:
Texans can back up the saying "Everything is bigger in Texas". From the population to the tourist attractions, Texas truly is BIG. One place that can really prove the point is Big Tex located in Fair Park, Dallas. Standing 55 ft tall, Big Tex has to be the tallest Teaxan standing. Wearing a 75 gallon hat and size 70 boots, Big Tex gives all visiting tourists a welcoming “Howdy”. Evidently Big Tex is not a real human being, but is a statue that resembles the good old southern culture of Texas.
Bigger Buildings:
Being that Texas is one of the bigger states in the U.S., it's no confusion that there would be a lot of construction bringing about bigger buildings. The tallest structure in the state, excluding radio towers, is the JP Morgan Chase Tower, located in the city of Houston. The Building contains 75 floors and is 1,002 ft tall. Following would be the second-tallest building in the state, the Wells Fargo in Houston. The building rises 992 feet above ground level. Other than skyscrapers, Texas also makes sure that their college campuses set the tone as well. Texas A&M University is the second largest public university in the United States (58,515 student enrollment) following Ohio State University (63,016 student enrollment).
The variety of culture presented in Texas is beyond any experience anyone could ever imagine. From bar-b-que, to fajitas, to good old southern soul food, Texas brings all of the flavor. Chili is the official state dish and there are a lot of cook-off festivals to determine who’s chili is the best in the state. Starting with the Original Terlingua International Championship Chili Cookoff is where we will kick off the competition. “Terlingua is truly the home of the best chili cook-offs in the Lone Star State. Yes, there are actually two incredible chili cook-offs that occur in this tiny west Texas town, and they even occur during the same days” (Madison Dragna). This festive cook-off is known to get a little bit competitive, which clearly shows how serious contestants are about their chili. All judges are instructed to taste the chili from unmarked cups. This four-day festival also hosts live entertainment, a margarita contests, and barbecue, lots of barbecue.
Texas brings about plenty of southern culture as well as southern hospitality. One thing that is a known fact is everything is bigger in Texas. From the buildings to the food, Texas really shows that they can really do it big.

I love this article because it reminds me of the times when I visit my folks that live there. The vibe in Texas is amazing and electrifying. However, everybody knows that Memphis is known for the BBQ tho.
